With a little patience, this perennial will give you fresh from the garden asparagus for decades. Mary Washington Asparagus provide medium sized spears that are green, crisp, smooth and have a nutty flavour. This plant will produce medium size, thick spears over and over. Great early Spring eating.
Asparagus doesn't like to be moved, so find a good spot and let them do their thing. In the 3rd year, havest the first shoots for dinner, then let them grow to ferns. Starting in the 4th year, harvest as much as you like!
